Abstract

The major thrust of energy management will continue to be in the form of BAS installations. Savings are anticipated to escalate as system fine tuning is accomplished and additional expertise is gained. It is estimated that 18 to 20 retrofit BAS installations will be completed in 1986 with an approximate saving of $1.2 million. In addition, all new large stores are being designed with BAS rather than conventional automatic temperature controls. A continuing investigation into economizers, variable speed motors, and controls as well as lighting alternatives are expected to provide additional savings.
