Abstract
We present a simple optical system designed for the end-pumping of solid state lasers using laser diode bars. Using this optical system we have efficiently coupled the output of a 785 nm, 50- Watt, quasi-cw laser diode bar into a Tm3+:YAG laser operating at 2 μm and achieved 24 % slope efficiency. While intended specifically to pump three-level lasers, the system is applicable to four-level lasers.
