Tourism, national parks and sustainability.

This chapter in the edited book explores the concept of sustainability within the context of national parks. It examines a number of issues, sustainability requires that the dual mandates of parks is adhered to, but also the importance of balance is put forward as the means to enable both mandates be met. The chapter presents detailed findings of a case study of Canada's National Park system and the challenges managers face in promoting sustainable landscapes, including ensuring protection of naturral resources and wildlife, providing recreation and tourism opportunities, issues around interpretation to name a few.
