The European photovoltaic pilot projects

Abstract
The Commission of the European Communities is building a total of 15 large photovoltaic pilot plants. 11 of them, including the world's largest fixed mounted array (300 kW), were completed at the end of June 1983. The plants are located in 8 member countries of the European Community. The programme is co-sponsored by the national governments. Most of the European companies involved in photovoltaics participate in this programme. Plants are virtually maintenance-free and demonstrate the viability of photovoltaics in the European climate.
