This book discusses the deregulation and liberalisation of the airline industry in Asia, Europe, North American and Oceania. The book is divided into eight chapters. The first chapter, An Overview of the World industry discusses many issues that are important in the context and airline regulation and deregulation. The chapter gives emphasis on international air services and the increase in growth of air passenger and cargo traffic in the last decade. The second chapter, Airline Deregulation in Asian Countries with emphasis on India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea, and Thailand. Chapter Three, Airline Deregulation in Australia and New Zealand presents the deregulation of airlines with more emphasis placed on Australia over New Zealand. The chapter looks at the evolution of economic regulation in Australia, presents an assessment on the performance of a two-airline policy, and airline deregulation. Chapters 4, 5 and 6 discuss airline regulation, deregulation and liberalization in Canada, Europe and the United States. The final two chapters review the theory of airline deregulation in the United States and the effects of airline deregulation.
