Recalcitrant cutaneous sarcoidosis treated with upadacitinib: Case report

Sarcoidosis is a multisystem chronic inflammatory disorder that is characterized by noncaseating granulomas and has an incidence of 1 to 160 per 100,000 persons depending on race and geographic location.1 It is most prevalent in women and begins predominately in the third and fourth decades, but evolving data indicates onset at later ages. The lungs are the most common organ affected by sarcoidosis and the skin second. Cutaneous sarcoidosis (CS) occurs in 25% to 40% of reported cases of sarcoidosis and is reported as the initial manifestation in up to 88% of cases.
