Abstract
Abstract In this chapter, we consider non-circulant type preconditioners for Toeplitz matrices. These include preconditioners based on fast transforms other than the Fourier transform and preconditioners based on Toeplitz matrices. For some Toeplitz systems, the performance of these preconditioners is better than that of circulant preconditioners. They are also useful for Toeplitz-related systems arising from practical applications, which we will discuss in Chapters 8-12.
