Abstract

Abstract The dataset faults gives the number n of faults in 32 rolls of material of length l metres; the data come from Bissell (1972), and are reproduced in Table 5.1. The number of faults is a non-negative integer, and is naturally modelled by the Poisson distribution, the standard model for count data.
