The Bacterial Cell

The Bacterial Cell deals with the structure-function of the components of the bacterial cell. Topics include cell shape, anatomy of the bacterial cell, constituents of the cytoplasm and the surface structures that protect the bacterium and interact with its environment. There is general consideration of components involved in pathogenicity such as capsules, lipopolysaccharide fimbriae and flagellae. Finally, the bacterial endospore is discussed in terms of structure and function.
