Exploring the Economic Implications and Challenges of an Ageing Population in the UK and China

Population ageing has evolved into a worldwide phenomenon. This paper aims to examine the trends and causes of population ageing, explore its economic and health implications, and investigate the policies and improvement measures implemented in the UK and China to address this issue. The research questions are: What are the main trends and causes of population ageing in the UK and China? How does population ageing impact the economy and health of these countries? And what policies and improvement measures have been implemented in response to population ageing? The study’s findings will contribute to the literature on population ageing, particularly in the UK and China. The study’s significance lies in the potential to guide policymakers in other countries grappling with the issue of population ageing. This paper concludes that population ageing has significant economic and health implications for the UK and China. However, both countries have implemented various policies and improvement measures, including developing elderly industries, healthcare financing, and pension policies, to mitigate the adverse effects. The study highlights the need for policymakers to implement more proactive measures to address population ageing.
