Abstract

"There are twelve chapters in this Book. The first Chapter is introductory which gives the basics of agriculture and food security. Chapter-2 deals with basics of sustainable agriculture and alternative agriculture that includes organic farming, ecological farming, bio-dynamic farming, natural farming and zero budget natural farming (ZBNF) etc are dealt in Chapter -3. Chapter-4 describes soil and plant nutrients that are required for plant growth. Water management and dryland technology for sustainable crop production are dealt in Chapter-5. Chapter-6 explains the integrated pest management tactics while Chapter-7 deals with diversified farming systems and integrated farming systems. Chapter-8 deals with sustainable natural resource management and Chapter-9 describes the nutrition sensitive food system in the context of sustainability. Chapter-10 deals with conservation agriculture and Chapter-11 focuses on climate resilient agriculture for sustainable crop production. Chapter-12 summarise sustainable agriculture practices. All chapters are well-illustrated with appropriately placed data, tables, figures, and photographs and supported with extensive and most recent references. "
