The Development of a Rights Awareness Scale related to Clinical Practice for Nursing Students

The purpose of this study was to develop a rights awareness scale related to clinical practice for nursing students. The specific purpose was to verify the content validity, construct validity, and reliability of developed scale. A total of 23 preliminary items were developed. The subjects were 222 3rd and 4th grade students enrolled in nursing departments in Jeonbuk and Daejeon, and were recruited using a convenience sampling method. The data were analyzed using the SPSS Win 24 program, exploratory factor analysis was conducted to verify the construct validity of the scale, and analysis was performed using the maximum likelihood with varimax rotation method. To verify reliability, Cronbach's alpha and Cronbach's alpha coefficient were analyzed when items were removed. The scale developed through this study consisted of three sub-factors with a total of 13 items, and the three sub-factors were 'rights of respect'(6 items), 'rights of learning'(4 items), and 'rights of protection'(3 items). The scale developed through this study is expected to be used in future to measure and analyze the level of awareness of rights related to clinical practice of nursing students.
