Abstract

This paper constructs an optimal generation command dispatch scheme for automatic generation control (AGC) systems in a performance-based frequency regulation market. The approach incorporates the mileage-based strategy to dispatch correction signals among various AGC units while simultaneously minimizing power deviation and regulation mileage payment. The particle swarm optimization method has been adopted to obtain the optimal solution in the proposed AGC dispatch framework while considering the dynamic constraints. Finally, the effectiveness of this method has been tested on the single-area system and the extended two-area LFC system.
