Abstract

Impedance matching is a practical procedure used to design the input impedance of an electrical load or the output impedance of the signal source, for power transfer maximization or for minimizing the reflection of the signal from the load. Starting from the correct definition of impedance matching in electrical engineering, the paper aims to present the necessary steps for the design and construction of impedance matching. Therefore, a rigorous calculation is required, through several procedures, of the values of the associated parameters. To achieve the above-mentioned objectives, the work goes through the following stages: defining the adaptation of the purely resistive impedance using a line of length λ/4, followed by the calculation of the impedance value of the adaptation line; adaptation of a complex load using passive elements with lumped parameters (coils or capacitors) with presentation of adaptation using two purely reactive components; practical examples of adapting a complex load to a line section using a series-parallel circuit, conclusions and bibliography.
