Abstract
The effective and dependable usage of Rechargeable Batteries (RBs) has emerged as the primary concern for car manufacturers in the development in Electric Vehicle (EV) technology. Lithium-ion battery technology is the most notable among RBs for having large specific power and specific energy. To fulfil the voltage requirement of the EV system, low terminal voltage lithium-ion battery cells are joined in series to produce the lithium-ion battery pack. However, the low charge cell amid the string limits the battery pack's usable capacity. Charge imbalances in the battery pack are brought on by variations in each cell's operating environment and manufacturing processes. In addition to speeding up cell ageing and decreasing usable capacity, these imbalances also pose major safety risks including overcharging. The cell balancing controller is a crucial component in all EVs and Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs) that use lithium-ion battery systems, and it is controlled by the Battery Management System (BMS) to extend battery life and ensure safety. The greatest solution to the charge balance problems in EVs is provided by BMS employing cell charge balancing.
