Abstract
SUMMARYR. Michel: Influence of allatectomy on the sustained flight potential of the desert locust, Schistocerca gregaria. The presence of the Corpora allata is not absolutely necessary for Schistocerca gregaria's sustained flying possibilities to establish themselves - For males desert locusts it seems that better their flying tendency, the less they are upset after removal of the Corpora allata. Nevertheless, the absence of these glands for a certain number of insects can either delay the beginning of the continuous flying period or shorten it's length. The flying time is retained in great part by operated locusts, during the first 80 days of adult life. Decrease of flying time is about 14% for good flyers and 25% for the others.
