It fetches location every few minutes to provide to save battery of the device the application is running on as fetching location repeatedly might have poor impact on the battery health of the device. It allows authorized people to access this location from the server so that they can know the location an individual or a group of individuals.
A significance statement is not available in the OpenAlex record.
