Abstract

An assortment of variable reluctance electric engines used in traction applications are modelled and researched here. The main aim of the article is to identify the best motor with superior characteristics. The motor considered for analysis are Synchronous Reluctance Motors (SyRM) as one, two, three and four layer in angled barrier are investigated and compared with the parameters as torque ripple, to find the behavior of the motor. The 2 kW, 48 V, 1500 RPM, three phase are the specifications of the motors considered for analysis. The analysis is executed in the finite element analysis environment by utilizing motorsolve package. SyRM is analyzed for angled barrier and notched types. After examining each kind of motor, it has been determined that the synchronous reluctance motor together with the two-layer angled barrier motor is the most effective form of motor.
