Abstract
The building sector is the largest energy consumer, accounting for roughly 40% of all energy use and a significant portion of carbon dioxide is also emitted. In order to make the building’s energy consumption virtually zero and its carbon emissions practically zero, it becomes important to examine the building’s energy use. The eQUEST software is used in this study to estimate the energy use of buildings, conduct energy audits, and validate energy-saving solutions that can be put in place to make buildings almost net zero energy buildings. Various energy conservation measures along with the integration of renewable energy helps to achieve NZEB. A payback period of4.24 years was calculated in this study. Energy savings and the Energy Performance Index (EPI) are calculated both before and after the advised conservation measures are implemented based on a model of the suggested actions. After applying energy conservation measures, EPI was calculated as 47.1.
