Abstract
Philosophers have been increasingly attracted to the theory of optical illusion. Psychologists, artists, and designers have also explored this phenomenon. Optical illusion distorts our perception of objects, oscillating between truth and illusion. Every time we focus on optical illusion images, we tend to experience visual deception. Its unique form draws people"s attention, and controls their understanding of things within the eye’s reach. We frequently experience optical illusion in our daily lives. It is primarily formed from the process we cognize as the outside world. The brain"s cognition of the external world mainly depends on the stimuli received by the sensory organs, with 75% of the information brought by the external world driven by optesthesia. Therefore, optical illusion is the most common form of illusion. The significance of using cognitive psychology for studying optical illusion is mainly to explore the formation process of cognition. Understanding the formation mechanism of cognition will make our application of optical illusion more flexible. The application of optical illusion in art design mainly applies to the area of visual design. As a unique visual form, optical illusion has been widely used in the visual design field.
