Abstract

Emphysematous osteomyelitis is a rare disease characterized by the presence of intraosseous gas associated with an infectious process.It occurs more frequently in patients with chronic pathologies and has a high mortality rate.The most frequent location is the vertebrae, while, in the foot, it is extremely rare.We present the case of a 62-year-old diabetic man with extensive emphysematous osteomyelitis of the midfoot and forefoot.
