Abstract

Abstract This case study describes how to reintroduce a kitten to a resident senior cat after the initial introduction did not go well. The resident cat did not accept the kitten and was spending more time outside. When she came into contact with the kitten, she would hiss and growl. A slow reintroduction was carried out which was unique to this particular set of circumstances by allowing the kitten to interact in a controlled way with the older cat whilst on a harness and lead outside. A similar method can also be used indoors with a barrier in-between the cats, tailored to suit each case, which is described under Option 2 in the ‘Courses of Action and Treatment’ section.
