Abstract

Idiopathic macular telangiectasia is a disease characterized by retinal capillary ectasia in the parafoveal temporal region of the macula. The disease is divided into two main groups: aneurysmal telangiectasia or idiopathic macular telangiectasia type 1, which include congenital, unilateral, and exudative juxtafoveal telangiectasia, occurring most commonly in males and cause visual impairment due to exudation and macular edema; and perifoveal telangiectasia or idiopathic macular telangiectasia type 2, which is the more common type of the disease, occurring in middle-aged men and women and bilateral.
