Abstract
Consequent-pole (CP) vernier permanent magnetic machine (VPMM) has attracted increasing interest owing to higher torque output and less PM usage compared to the surface-mounted VPM (SVPMM). Via the simplified equivalent magneto-motive force (MMF)-dual salient permeance model, the deviated no-load air-gap flux density from FEA result is observed, which means the theoretical basis of CPVPMM has not been well established due to the unconventional consequent-pole PM structure. In this paper, an advanced MMF-permeance model is proposed which could accurately predict the air-gap flux density under different structure parameters of CPVPMM. Based on the proposed analytical method, the accurate sizing equation of CPVPMM could be established which would give helpful guidance in analyzing and designing the high-torque-density CPVPMM.
