Abstract
Within the last two decades, health and organizational communication scholars have come to understand the importance of communication among healthcare teams. Effective communication in healthcare teams leads to positive patient outcomes. This entry examines the types of healthcare teams, research in communication and healthcare teams, and theoretical approaches to communication with healthcare teams. Given that healthcare teams play an essential role in healthcare organizations and in patient care, communication scholars are well placed to further inform this area of research.
