Abstract The flow equations pertaining to the behavior of a fluid passing through an orifice are set forth so as to relate the flow coefficient to the orifice configuration and to flow losses. The general nature of the flow coefficient is developed both for the case of instantaneous flow and pressure differences and for mean flow and pressure difference.
