Abstract
Public goods, considered to be a constituent of the existence of the public sector, take on a new character as a constituent element in the creation of the contemporary socio-economic space. As in the past, some goods, due to their exceptional importance and unique specificity, have gained the status of public goods, so today, under the influence of global megatrends, goods and services are created that aspire to this category. In addition, the already existing public goods, under the influence of the megatrends discussed in the chapter (digitization and internalization, globalization, aging and the silver economy, neo-urbanization, greening and the sharing economy) are undergoing a significant transformation. The chapter discusses the impact of the indicated megatrends on the creation of public goods and services. At the same time, the evolution in the ways of delivering and consuming the existing public goods and services is distinguished and described. An original and innovative attempt was also made to identify private goods which, under the influence of modern civilization development, acquire the features of public goods.
