Abstract
This paper describes a modelling and simulation process for evaluating optimal routes and computing travel times for individual trips on an origin destination survey database. Using TransCAD geographic information systems (GIS) the procedure is able to find the best routes through a topological road network. In addition, estimates for traffic congestion, accessibility, traffic noise, and travel patterns can be obtained.
