Abstract

SummaryWe generalize a problem in Wasan geometry involving two circles and an equilateral triangle in terms of oriented circles and oriented lines, and get an invariant property of the figure consisting of an isosceles triangle of fixed height and a line passing through the apex of the triangle. Several results for the incircle and the excircles of the isosceles triangle and the right triangle are obtained as special cases of the generalization.
