Abstract
The potential risks and vulnerabilities of water infrastructure are significant issues in our society. Water infrastructure’s problems can have an economic impact of trillions of dollars on the US economy and its critical infrastructure systems. The primary objectives of this research are to analyze what initiatives states are taking in regard to water infrastructure and to make recommendations to raise the grade to capture the apparent inconsistency between current water infrastructure management and existing ineffective solutions and recommendations. In addition, this study attempts to leverage data-driven approaches based on analysis of existing ineffective improvement methods and recommendations. Therefore, this research tries to determine the causes affecting grades of the infrastructure report card for water infrastructure and contributing to prolonged risks. Minimizing the vulnerability of the water infrastructure and closing the mismatch of the water sector will protect public health for future generations and lead to a resilient, efficient, and reliable water future.
