Abstract

Intelligent transport systems include the application of various technologies whose use seeks to increase the efficiency and safety of the transport system. They represent an upgrade of the classic transport system with new technologies in order to increase transport efficiency, increase the safety of all road users, reduce the harmful effects of transport on the environment and quality of life, and are based on efficient real-time information exchange. Fleet management is an important part of intelligent transport systems. Its primary purpose was to optimize the work and control of the vehicle fleet in transport companies. The subject of this paper is the application of Fleet Management system as part of ITS, and the use of tachographs as a mandatory system for monitoring vehicle and driver activities, and show the capabilities of Fleet Management systems and tachograph systems and compare the accuracy of recorded data.
