Abstract
This chapter tackles news production from the less common vantage point of glocalization. It illustrates the ways glocalization performs as an established business strategy that is adopted by international, global, national and local news organizations alike so as to increase audiences and profits. Yet, at the same time, glocalization is also made manifest as a significant force that affects the entire global news information flow - both inside the global/international/national/local news organization, and in the broader complex relations between the local/national and global/international spheres. The chapter begins with a short literature review of media and glocalization and glocal news production, discusses the production of glocal news and the glocalization of news production, and reviews the main professional glocal news networks operating in today's global news arena. Finally, an overview of the current trends and some suggestions for future paths are provided, followed by a short conclusion.
