Abstract

Abstract The carbon dioxide concentrating mechanism is a variation of photosynthesis in which the algae raise the level of carbon dioxide in the cell many times over the environmental concentration of carbon dioxide. The carbon dioxide concentrating mechanism enhances carbon dioxide fixation and growth in algae.
