Abstract

Abstract Pastoral counseling (also known as pastoral care) is the provision of psychotherapy by ordained ministers, priests, rabbis, and other religious leaders. Religious communities have turned to clergy in times of crisis for millennia, and pastoral counseling remains today a vital resource for many people dealing with significant emotional, relational, physical, and spiritual concerns.
