Abstract

While the architecture pattern is a concept, the Internet of Things (IoT) Architecture can be used as a reference for the application architecture. Such reference architecture provides a common terminology and concepts, to ensure that the different stakeholders are communicating at the same level. This chapter looks at the area of Enterprise Architecture (EA) which has been around for 25-30 years now. It provides an example of the Business Architecture or the Marketing view of the Architecture or commonly referred as markitecture. Markitecture is important to plan a real-world project with a business goal and monetization in mind. A functional architecture can be used by the different experts such as the business subject matter experts (SMEs); software engineers and IoT architects are able to create the blueprint of the IoT architecture solution. This is the big picture stage that helps to model the functional landscape.
