Abstract
Neuroprotection is important in injuries of the central nervous system (CNS). Immediate damage from the injury may not be reversible but the progression of the chain of events, which aggravate brain damage, can be prevented by an effective strategy for neuroprotection. Two major forms of CNS injury are traumatic brain injury (TBI) and spinal cord injury (SCI), which will be discussed in the following chapter. A patient with CNS injury may have multiple injuries, which may produce complications in the brain that require neuroprotection. These keywords were added by machine and not by the authors.
