Abstract
Bovine Coronavirus (BCV) is widely distributed in cattle population in many countries and specific antibodies can be found in a majority of adult animals. Enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) is probably the most widely used diagnostic test for BCV serological surveys as it can be applied for herd screening and give reliable results rapidly. This study was conducted to determine the seroprevalence of coronavirus in dairy herds of Jabalpur region. The ELISA for detection of bovine coronavirus was performed on total 90 serum samples collected from dairy animals of organised as well as unorganised dairy farms. 86.66% serum samples were found positive for coronavirus antibody with more positive cases in non diarrhoeic animals. Maximal seroprevalence was observed in adult animals. However no correlation was observed in the clinical finding of diarrhoea and presence of bovine coronavirus antibody in serum of dairy animals.
