Abstract

On May 18th, Secretary of Agriculture Orville L. Freeman presented Distinguished Service Awards, the highest citation of the United States Department of Agriculture, to seven employees. The Distinguished Service honorees were: Dr. Theodore C. Byerly, Administrator, Cooperative State Research Service; George R. Grange, Deputy Administrator for Marketing Service, Consumer and Marketing Service; Charles L. Grant, Director of Finance and Budget Officer of the Department; Ira J. Mason, Director, Division of Timber Management, Forest Service, and Hollis R. Williams, Deputy Administrator for Watersheds, Soil Conservation Service; all of Washington, D.C.; also, Gardener H. Chidester, Supervisory Chemical Engineer, Forest Products Laboratory, Madison, Wis.; and Dr. Serge N. Timasheff, Research Chemist, Agricultural Research Service, Wyndmoor, Pa.
