Abstract

A key for the description of Palaeozoic ammonoids is presented. It contains a catalogue of descriptive terms to characterise conch morphology, ornament, and suture line particularly of Carboniferous ammonoids. A number of examples of tables and illustrations are given for the description of conch characters, their ontogeny and intraspecific variability. doi:10.1002/mmng.200900008
