Abstract

Over the past decade several new antidepressants have been introduced which act selectively on 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT, serotonin) reuptake in the brain. Zimeldine was withdrawn, fluvoxamine and fluoxetine remain. Sertraline and paroxetine are new antidepressants of this class.
