Abstract
Abstract InThe structure of scientific revolutionsThomas Kuhn sketches an account of the history of science according to which scientists normally work withinparadigms. Scientists who work within the same paradigm share certain tacit and explicit knowledge that enables them to conduct their research. Kuhn understood science to be cyclical in nature; a period of “normal” scientific research, would give way to uncertainty and then revolution, with a new period of normal science emerging with the advent of a new “incommensurable” successor paradigm.
