Abstract

The fiddler crab Uca spinicarpa was presented by MJ. Rathbun; however, no original description or figures were provived. The species was presented in a key and the registration number of the type material mentioned. Thus, a redescription and figures of this species based on a specimen from the type locality are provided herein. Additional morphological characters based on specimens deposited in the National Museum of Natural History (Smithsonian Institution), Washington, DC, and in the American Museum of Natural History, New York City, as well as remarks regarding its geographic distribution are also provided.
