Abstract

Statistical inference attempts to make generalizations about a population based on the data of an observed sample. Several paradigms are concerned with the question of how the procedures of inference should be justified and conducted. In the field of communication research, frequentist inference and Bayesian inference are the most common approaches. The propositions of statistical inference include point estimation, interval estimation, and hypothesis testing.
