Romanticism: A Very Short Introduction explores the definition of the word 'Romantic' and considers its origins. What is Romanticism? Who were the Romantics? and What did they have in common? The ideas, beliefs, commitments and tastes of the Romantics are explored. The birth and growth of Romanticism throughout Europe and the Americas is described, and the various expressions of Romanticism in literature, music, painting, religion, and philosophy are surveyed.
