Sharecropping

Sharecropping is a form of land tenancy, in which the landlord allows the tenant to use his land, in return for a stipulated fraction of the output (the ‘share’). It is an institutional arrangement which has prevailed in many parts of the world. Though today sharecropping is most commonly found in l.d.c.’s, sharecropping arrangements exist even in more advanced countries (such as the United States).
