Abstract
Efficiencies of transformation with heterologous DNAs were examined on B. subtilis 168-YS11 and its restrictionless and modificationless mutant B. subtilis RM125. Whereas the efficiencies of homologous transformation on YS11 and RM125 were almost the same, RM125 showed 30–200 fold higher efficiencies than YS11 when heterologous DNAs were used as transforming DNAs.
