Abstract
This chapter describes the key features of papillary lesions of the oral mucosa. The lesions covered are condyloma acuminatum, multifocal epithelial hyperplasia, oral proliferative verrucous leukoplakia, squamous papilloma, squamous cell carcinoma, verruca vulgaris, and verrucous carcinoma. Proliferative verrucous leukoplakia is a slow-growing, progressive, verrucous white lesion of the oral mucosa that is potentially malignant. Oral squamous papilloma is a cauliflower-like, pedunculated or sessile, normal pink or whitish lesion that occurs on the oral mucosa. Written for undergraduate dental students, dental hygienists and oral health therapists, the chapter is an ideal quick reference and is also useful to dental educators and practitioners.
