Abstract

Sewers are pipes which convey sewage from drains, serving domestic and other properties, to sewage purification works or other points of disposal. Every local authority is required by the Public Health Act, 1936, to provide and maintain such sewers as are necessary to effectively drain their areas and to deal with their discharges. They are also required to keep sewer maps on which all public sewers are properly recorded.
