Abstract

The aim of this paper is to present a synthesis of the geology and tectonics of the Amazonian Platform (Craton), including part of the Brazilian Amazon basin and comprising an area of approximately 4.000.000 km 2 . The main concern of the authors was to reach a satisfactory uniformity in relation to the formal and informal lithostratigraphic units and the geotectonic terms.
