Abstract This article describes the various types of amplitude modulation techniques that are used for the transmission of analog signals over wireline and wireless communication channels. The treatment includes double‐sideband, suppressed carrier amplitude modulation, conventional amplitude modulation, single‐sideband amplitude modulation and vestigial‐sideband amplitude modulation. The implementation of amplitude modulators and demodulators is also described.
